Vinci Technologies Geometric Bulk Volume Meter (GBV)

This instrument is designed to measure bulk volume of plug sized and/or full diameter core samples with excellent accuracy. The principle consists of measuring accurately the length and diameter of the samples at different grades. Minimum of 8 measurements along the diameter and one every 50 mm along the length are necessary to get an accurate bulk volume measurement. The bulk volume is determined by integrating those measurements. This calculation can be done by hand or by optional computer program. In the latest, calipered dimensional data on core samples are automatically logged and the geometric bulk volume, shape factor, effective flow area and caliper bulk factor are automatically calculated by the program.
